Jazz - An introduction

24/11/2019

The Jazz era began in and around New Orleans around 1900 and was the dominant popular music form for the next 50 years until it got superseded by rock'n'roll in the mid 1950.  To get the hang of learning to play jazz on the drums the most important thing to do is to listen to some Jazz so that you can start to hear the rhythms and feel that we are trying to create.
Try some Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, or some drummers like Philly Joe Jones, Art Blakey, Buddy Rich, Elvin Jones, or more modern players like Peter Erskine,  Jeff Tain Watts, or Brian Blade,
